It’s gonna be a bit shorter than usual because I’m pretty slammed, but the question I posed last week about what are your favorite cover songs got me thinking that it would be a far more interesting question to ask everyone what their least favorite cover songs are. Also, and this has nothing to do with cover songs, but how terrible are Paul McCartney collaborations, typically?!? For such a great artist, he really makes some terrible music when he works with other people. He did an Italian Techno Stadium Rock song that I had never heard of called “Out Of Sight”. But the most interesting thing to me about his collaborations is that two of his collaborations with other generational talent resulted in not only his worst song, but theirs as well. “Ebony and Ivory” with Stevie Wonder is not a good song, but one of the worst songs I have ever heard and certainly both McCartney and Michael Jackson’s worst song is “The Girl Is Mine”. It’s so bad that it’s almost shocking that both of the creators are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Anyway, sorry to get off on a tangent.
Tuesday Boozeday with $7 Glass of Red or White, House Cocktails, Wings, Brie en Croute and Fried Cheese is tonight.
Wednesday’s Cocktail Specials will all feature our homemade coffee liqueur and all be $7.
Thursday’s Wine Tasting will be something a little different. We’re gonna have a little more interaction and a little more fun. It’s going to be a blind tasting. I’ll have tasting sheets printed out and people will be able to take their own notes and use the official Sommelier’s worksheet to try to work out the wine that you are tasting. Everyone will be on a level playing field, and, just to spice it up a bit, if anyone gets all the wines correct, they will win a prize! Some come on Thursday at 7:00pm to have a bit of fun and test yourself.
The special for the whole week is Green Chile Braised Pork with onions, garlic and Spanish
spices, all served over a bed of Spanish rice and barracho beans.
Mother’s Day Brunch is May 13th starting at 10:30am. We’ll feature a buffet, omelet station, various pastries and jams and jellies, etc. We’ll also feature cocktail and drink specials specifically for that day.
Our 7th Anniversary Wine Dinner will be on Saturday, June 9th starting at 5:00pm. I’ve already put out the dinner menu itself, and I’m going to send out the optional wine pairing sometime in the next week. We still have spots available, so call us to make a reservation (reservations are required) and come enjoy what is arguably our best feature. I think these wine dinners are where we truly have a chance to shine.
This message got longer than expected so I’ll just cut it off here and say:
See you this week!
