I had a joke or some clever intro paragraph written and ready to send, but then a song came on the radio and a thought occurred to me. So, instead, I want to pose a question to our millions upon millions of followers. What is your favorite cover song of all time. As in, what is your favorite song that was done by an artist other than the original creator? Mine is probably the Wings song “Jet” as done by Jellyfish (today, at least. ask me tomorrow and the answer will surely change). This is Michael, in case you were wondering. I’m sure V or Elaine would pick something far less obscure. But that’s why I’m posing this question to everyone else. It’s such an interesting idea, and there’s so many things that it can be judged on. How true was the cover to the original, did the new artist do something interesting with the song, does the song hit your nostalgia button, etc. It’s such a delicate thing to take art made by someone else and change it. I’m curious to see how many people even bother to answer this question and what the answers are. Anyway……
The special for the week is Caribbean Shrimp and Coconut Rice, served with Red Bell Pepper, Sauteed Onions, Pineapple, and Tossed in A Red Chili Pineapple Reduction.
Tuesday Boozeday is in effect, as always. $7 Glass of White or Red, House Cocktails, Wings, Brie en Croute and Fried Cheese. Great way to get rid of the Tuesday Blues.
Wednesday, our cocktail specials will all feature our Rosemary-infused Vodka. What better way to get into the Spring mode than to drink plants, right? It’s refreshing.
Thursday, our wine tasting will be exclusively wines from Spain. This is the most interesting tasting of the month, to me. While I realize people don’t drink a ton of French or Italian wine, and thus were able to broaden their horizons a bit with the last two wines, wines from Spain don’t get near the same level of exposure that even French and Italian wines do. I know people aren’t as interested in trying Spanish wines as they would be a lot of others, that’s a shame, because Spanish wines can be absolutely amazing, and are generally much better values than wines from France or Italy, or even the United States. I highly encourage you to at least try to come out and try the tasting. I think you’ll learn that you love Spanish wines and it’ll open up a whole new country for you to drink from.
We still have a few spots left open for Mother’s Day Brunch, so feel free to make a reservation. It’ll be buffet-style and will feature drink specials and various accoutrement. Also, our June 9th Anniversary Wine Dinner still has slots open, as well. I don’t know how fast this will fill up, since we’re only doing one night, so if you’re interested, it would be a good idea to call sooner rather than later. That will be 7-courses with an optional wine paring, starting at 5:00pm.
Lastly, Bizzi’s Cellar Tasting will be April 28th, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm.
I realize this was incredibly wordy, but I’m sure you just skipped to the end, anyway, so……sorry, not sorry. Look forward to hearing from you, see you soon, and have a great week.
