Tomorrow’s Wine Tasting

Hope I’m not bugging you guys, I just wanted to shoot you out the wine tasting notes for tomorrow’s tasting. It’s sort of a weird one, so I wanted to give people an advanced look. It’s wines that I think will pair well with Thanksgiving items. So anyone trying to pick wine for their dinner can come in and try the tasting to see what works best.

Lemon Rosemary Poached Cod

Hello, everyone!

I’m just going to get straight into it, because I’m already worried that this message is going to become a giant wall of text. I’ll try to keep my part short and sweet. The only thing out of the ordinary that I need to mention is that we have picked a day for Mrs. Griffin and Mom to play their annual Christmas Piano Concert, and it’s Thursday December 19th. I’ll send you details next week, but I figure you guys would want to know so you could start making plans.

The Special for this week is going to be a Lemon Rosemary Poached Cod with a Truffle Cream Sauce.

The Wednesday’s Cocktail Specials will all feature rye whiskey, because I want them to. So, come in Wednesday night to try $7 Whiskey Daisy, Algonquin Cocktail and Sneak Pete.

Thursday’s Wine Tasting will be something a little strange. Rather than doing a single grape or a region, I’m going to do wines that pair well with specific Thanksgiving dishes. Since we aren’t going to be open next Thursday (duh), this is my way of both celebrating my favorite holiday and also giving everyone ideas of what wine they can use at their own Thanksgiving meals. It’s educational and celebratory. Double whammy.

Finally, here’s why I kept my message short and sweet, because Mom has something she’d like to send out to everyone: “Don’t forget to join us for our Bizzi’s Cellar Wine Club on Saturday, November 23rd at 4:00pm. We’ll have lots of fun with wine, chat and nibbles.

And here is another great opportunity for you wine lovers! We will be hosting a Wine Class over the next few months! The first will be conducted on Saturday, December 7th at 3:00pm. We are so pleased to have Greg Leblanc as our instructor – he has spent decades in the wine biz, and the class promised to teach us all. We will have tapas and wine, along with class time. $20 per person, 3:00pm-5:00pm at Bizzi’s. Don’t miss out!”

Late-ro, everyone!

Tonight’s Pinot Noir Tasting

There has been a change to tonight’s Pinot Noir tasting. Nothing major, but I had to switch out the Oregon wine for a California one. I have attached the updated tasting notes to this message. Other than that, it’s still pretty rad.

Hope to see you, tonight.

Pinot Noir Tasting Notes and Tonight’s Cocktail Specials

I finished the wine tasting notes for tomorrow’s Pinot Noir wine tasting. I have attached them to this message. As always, they’re really good wines. I had a little fun with the last one, which is a Pinot Noir Sparkling Wine. Seemed like a fun way to try a different style of Pinot. Also, the 2013 1er Cru Gevrey Chambertin Red Burgundy is seriously unbelievable. I can never get people to drink enough Burgundy, especially the good stuff, so hopefully you guys come and take advantage of it.

Also, tonight’s cocktail specials will all be warm cocktails, just because of the weather. Let’s celebrate Fall by getting a little bit plastered. The $7 cocktails tonight will be a Bizzi’s Hot Toddy, a Polar Bear Coffee and Elderflower Chocolat Epices. Let’s do this thing!

Seared Salmon Special and Pinot Noir Tasting

Hey, guys.

Hope you had a great weekend, I know I did. I hope we were clear enough with everyone that we’d be closed for our anniversary last Saturday. Apologies to anyone who didn’t see the message. But, we’re back to normal business hours, now. So we can all get back into the routine. At least until Thanksgiving.

The special this week will be Seared Salmon with a Lemon Dill Sauce. I know, just in time for the cold weather, right? But we’ve had people asking us about salmon ever since we took it off the Winter Menu, so here it is.

For Wednesday Cocktail Specials, I figure it’ll be good to help everyone get warm, so we’ll do 3 different hot cocktails. Obviously, I have to do a Special Hot Toddy (duh), and in addition to that, we’ll also have $7 Polar Bear Coffees and Elderflower Chocolat Epices. Warm the soul and your liver.

Thursday’s Wine Tasting will be Pinot Noir from around the world. It seemed like it would pair wonderfully with the special, and I haven’t done a Pinot Tasting in a while, despite it being maybe my favorite grape. I’ll send you specific tasting notes, tomorrow, but I think we’ll do an American, a French, a New Zealand, and a Wildcard. More to come.

The Bizzi’s Cellar Tasting will be Saturday, November 23rd at 4:00pm, featuring a holiday theme!

See you, soon.

Closed Saturday

Just a reminder that we will be closed tomorrow, Saturday November 8th, for a family friend’s wedding and also MINE AND VERONIKA’S 1ST YEAR ANNIVERSARY! So if you were planning on coming into Bizzi’s this weekend, you should really try to come in tonight. If you try to come in on Saturday, I feel like it’d be a somewhat disappointing meal, given that there will be no food or wine available for it.

I know our hours have been weird the last few weeks because of Halloween and our Fall Dinner and now this, but we’ll get back to normal next week. The Holidays are a weird time, and V and I’s anniversary definitely counts as a holiday. I’ve been petitioning the government to declare it federally, so that we can all get off of work for it, but I haven’t had success yet. I’ll keep you posted.

See you guys, tonight!

(P.S. Go Mavs!)

Tonight’s Wine Tasting

Don’t forget that we’re running back the Fall Night To Remember Wine Tasting tonight at 7:00pm. I already re-posted them yesterday. I don’t think I can say anything about them that I haven’t already said. They’re awesome.

Saturday Closure and Wine Tasting

I’m sorry, I forgot to mention that we’re closed on Saturday November the 8th. Our oldest friend’s son is getting married. And even if that wasn’t the case, it’s Veronika’s and my 1 year anniversary. And while I don’t usually mind working on birthdays or anniversaries, I feel like if she asked me what we were doing on our anniversary and I said “working”, there wouldn’t be a second year anniversary. Long story short, we’re closed on Saturday, so if you guys are coming in this week, you gotta come in tonight, tomorrow or Friday. The special and wine tasting this week are more than worth it. Try to make some time, if you can.

Also, tonight’s cocktail specials are Campfire Slings (whiskey), The Marguerites (tequila) and High Fashions (gin). Originally, we were gonna ring in the Fall weather, but I jinxed it. So I’m just gonna shut up and wait for the heat/humidity to go away.

Lastly, here’s a quick re-post of the wine tasting notes for tomorrow’s wine tasting at 7:00pm. Like always, I like to give people the opportunity to do the tasting if they couldn’t make it last weekend. Or even if you could make it last weekend, come in and do the wine tasting again, because it’s seriously just that good.

See you, soon.

Texas Bison Strip and Fall Wine Tasting

Hey, guys!

It was a great weekend! If I find any pictures that anyone took, I’ll post them so everyone can see how it went. If not, just picture it in your head.

The special for this week is Herb-Marinated Texas Bison Strip with Sherry Mushrooms.

Wednesday’s cocktail specials will be all Fall inspired, because we seem to officially be making the transition into not 100 degree weather. So, that’s definitely something to look forward to. Anyway, we’ll be doing specials on Campfire Slings (whiskey), The Marguerite (tequila) and High Fashions (gin).

Thursday’s Wine Tasting will be a redoux of the Fall Night To Remember Wine Tasting. I always do this for people who didn’t get a chance to come to the dinner, this way people who couldn’t come get to try the booze part. Which is obviously the important part. I’ll repost the notes later, but obviously the highlight of the tasting was the 1996 Madeira. It was wild! To be honest, there wasn’t a weak link in the tasting. Now, I’m biased, but I thought it was amazing.

Mom’s back in town and she told me to let everyone know that she’s doing a Bizzi’s Cellar Tasting on Saturday, November 23rd at 4:00pm. Featuring a Holiday Theme! Get into the season. GET INTO IT!

See you soon.

Fall Night To Remember Dinner and Halloween

Hey, guys, this is going to be a very weird week, for a few reasons.

First, our Fall Night To Remember Wine Dinner is on Friday and Saturday of this week. We still have some spots open, so if you are interested in coming to either day, just give us a call and make a reservation. I am re-posting the Dinner Menu and the Wine Menu for everyone to look at. The wine is especially killer. I found an eclectic mix of stuff that will be awesome and varied. The Madeira is from 1996! It’s older than some of the people we have working here! Also, we will be closed on Halloween. We’ve been closed on Halloween for the last few years, because we’d like for our people to get to trick or treat with their families. One of the perks of being a family business.

There will be no special this week, because we need to spend the time prepping for the wine dinner.

And obviously there won’t be a wine tasting because we’re closed on Thursday. That and we’re doing a big wine tasting the following day, anyway.

I’m sure I’m missing some other stuff, but Mom is out of town until this weekend, so I don’t have her info on the wine club and all that. I know she’s doing a wine club tasting soon, but I’ll have to keep you posted.

So, to reiterate, our Fall Night To Remember Wine Dinner will be on Friday and Saturday, and we still have spots open for both nights. And we will be closed on Halloween, because we want to scare the bejesus out of kids and that’s the only time of the year where that’s acceptable to do it.

I hope to see you this week.
