Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs…Food, Shelter, Wine Conference?  It’s hard to complain about our only two days off — Michael and I got to attend TexSom.  Eight seminars about wine & liquor, over 100 wines tasted, mingling with some of the luminaries of the wine industry, and we are tired!  So … have we evoked one molecule of sympathy from any of you?  Probably not.  Wonderful & exhausting conference.  We each made many pages of notes with many new ideas.  Our colleagues at Bizzi’s will hate us (maybe more than usual).

This weekend we are featuring Osso Buco with Gremolata accompanied by Garlic Mashers & Seasonal Vegetables — and we’ll be ready to help you choose with a good wine or cocktail pairing for it (if your little hearts desire our help)!
Jan Ryberg will be here next Wednesday (August 19) to serenade us in the evening with his classical guitaring.
And lastly, $7 wine/martini on Tuesday/Wednesday evenings.

Hint: If you just can’t live without Quail, ask — we will generally have some on hand for you. For the season: Lamb Chops with Demi-Glace…Pistachio-Crusted Trout…Shrimp Salad…

This Friday & Saturday night after 5 p.m.: Beef Tenderloin Roll-up with Prosciutto, Arugula, & Fresh Ricotta served over Sage Mashers & Seasonal Veg.

Tuesday/Wednesday nights: $7 wine or well martini.

Crab Stuffed Salmon

I was always suspicious of the phrase “continuous improvement” at my previous job — seems like we always had a department that “handled” that. Truth is, though, (ah, the benefits of hindsight…) most things can be made better, so we really should always be looking for ways to improve them (no department needed, however). We spend lots of time thinking and talking about our little hive and how to make it a great experience for you.

In the next few days we will launch our seasonal menu to help us slog through the heat and humidity. Details to follow – it’ll be posted on our website & Facebook. This weekend (after 5 p.m.), we are featuring Crab-Stuffed Salmon with Arugula-Cilantro Aioli over Orzo & Veg Medley.

We’re stoked! Last week we got our official notification: Bizzi’s was honored by Wine Spectator Magazine for having one of the most outstanding restaurant wine lists in the world! Michael even has his picture in the magazine — much to his chagrin!

Wednesday, July 22, we have Jan Ryberg in to play his classical guitar — always wonderful (especially with paired with our $7 wine feature both Tuesday & Wednesday nights). He’ll set up just after 6 p.m. and play all evening.

This weekend, we are featuring House-made Lobster Tortellini with Olive Oil & Lemon, Asparagus, and Cremini Mushrooms — don’t miss out!

Chipotle Shrimp

And we’re back!  Our noses are peeling and we’ve all napped nearly every day for the past week … so we’re ready for some fun times here at Bizzi’s!

Here’s some motivation to come get your Bizzi’s buzz on before Saturday!  We are going to be closed on Saturday, July 4 and all next week, and will re-open at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14.   I’d like to say we are going to be industriously toiling away, but we’ll probably be floating in the pool with an umbrella drink.  Just sayin’…

Beer Braised Short Ribs

How quickly we went from cool rain to searing hot weather!  Mustn’t complain, though…I have to keep telling my little fussy self that!

We have daily bistro specials all week long, $7 red/white wine or well martini on Tuesday & Wednesday, and a weekend feature (Friday & Saturday nights) of Braised Beef Short Ribs, Butternut-Parsnip Mash, & Sauteed Seasonal Veg — always a hit to the yummy.
And don’t forget to attend our Witness Tree tasting on Thursday at 7:00pm. $15 for a 4-wine tasting from a great producer in Oregon. We’ll be enjoying it, as well.

Next Thursday Wine Tasting

And the Winner is … so, two of our illustrious customers, who shall remain nameless (although we all know who they are), had a contest to see who could come in to Bizzi’s the most often from January through May.  The winner came in 52 times, as compared to the runner-up winner, who came in 49 times.  At about twice a week, that’s a lot of salmon, flatbreads, caesar salads, and chicken club sandwiches!  And we do love you — and our other customers, many of whom came in nearly as much!

This weekend, Friday & Saturday evening, we are featuring Fresh-Cut Salmon with Maple-Mustard Glaze over Fennel-Cucumber Slaw and Basmati Rice.  Light & summery….mmmmm.
In addition, we have a special treat for you!  We will host a wine tasting next Thursday, June 25, at 7:00 p.m. — we will be tasting Witness Tree wines.  The Polar Bear & I went to the Witness Tree winery last year on our trip to Willamette Valley, and the wines are just delicious!  $15 per person — lots of lip-smacking vino & light snacks.  Call us for more info — 817-281-9500.
And, yes, I’m from that generation that thought all my kids were winners — still think it (usually, anyway).

Pork With Red Cherry Wine

Onward & Upward…

Our anniversary weekend was lovely — and now on to year five.  Another lesson learned:  a restaurant kitchen needs a stove.  Who knew?  (Yes, it is a true story.)

Well martinis or a glass of red/white wine – $7 on Tuesday & Wednesday evenings as always.
This weekend, Friday & Saturday, we will be serving Pork Loin with Red Wine-Cherry Reduction, Mashers, & Seasonal Veg.  Must take advantage of cherry season — it’s so short, but so sweet!
Never enough chances to tell each of you how much we appreciate you!  Thanks for letting us be here in Bedford and getting to meet, serve, & learn from you, old friends and new.

4th Anniversary Week

Whew! I can’t believe that Bizzi’s has been open for four years — some days have flown by, and others have crawled with leaden sluggishness. We’ve laughed, we’ve cried (fortunately, the laughs outweigh the tears), and we’ve learned. There are moments we’ll never forget, like the night we ran out of every single crumb of food in the place (that was a tears night)…the time I left out the sugar in the cheesecake (mostly laughs, but I did get to make another cheesecake at midnight)…the time we danced out the door, out on the lawn, and back in to the tune of some great rock and roll (great joy for me — my dancing feet hearted every second). More on that in messages to come.

Saturday is our Anniversary Dinner — make a reservations if you haven’t already! Live music, five courses, optional wine pairing…

Tuesday & Wednesday night we are still pouring a nice red or white wine for $7 (or a well martini — get your Cosmo on!), and we will feature bistro specials all week long.

We are thankful for you every single day — so many friends over the months & years!
