Valentine’s Menu

New baby on board! Edgar, our illustrious kitchen Zen master, and his wife Cassie, welcomed a new daughter last Wednesday! Isabella, we are so happy you’re here (and, quite selfishly, not in the middle of service on a Friday night). She joins older brother Anthony.

Wine tasting on Thursday with one of our wonderful wine reps, Sean Croft (Pioneer Wine Distributors) pouring delicious Spanish La Rioja Alta wines: 2013 Albarino, 2006 Vigna Arana, 2007 Vigna Ardanza, and 2008 Vigna Alberdi — $20 per person — starts at 7 p.m.

Friday’s feature: House-made Lobster Ravioli with Vodka Cream Sauce.

We are closed Saturday night for a private event — that’s January 23.

Mark your calendar (and make a reservation): Valentine’s Menu is done — 7 courses, $65 per person (see below). Saturday & Sunday, February 13th & 14th, 5-9 p.m. Please let us know if you have dietary restrictions — we can make special menu arrangements to accommodate you!

Have a wonderful week.

Grilled Flank Steak

Next Lesson: Change is not so easy. Here at Bizzi’s, times are a changin’, which is both exhilarating and stressful. I’m pretty sure we hit both sides of that last week — lots of changes to the menu, lots of changes in the kitchen, lots of changes period. This week, I plan to be mostly exhilarated.

For the weekend, we are featuring Grilled Flank Steak with Beer-B-Que Sauce with Caramelized Onion Mash of the Day & Seasonal Veg. I’ve tasted it (a few times, much to my Weight Watchers chagrin) — excellent.

Thursday we are doing a Martini Tasting — $15 for three small quaffs: Martinez, Maple-Balsamic Old Fashioned, and Key Lime Pie. Mmmmm.

Wine & Martinis $7 Tuesday & Wednesday nights.

Valentine’s Weekend — 5 courses, $65 per person; wine pairing optional.

See you this week — we’ll share our exhilaration with you!

Mint-Crusted Lamb

Happy 2016 to you all!  Lots of resolutions and lots of changes are in work for us — both at home at at Bizzi’s.

Thursday nights will be our “special” evenings — with the first Thursday devoted to Beer Tasting, the second for Martini Tasting, the third for Wine Tasting, and the fourth for Live Music.  We think it’ll be fun and maybe even a little bit educational!

We are making seasonal tweaks to our menu as well — both lunch & dinner options — to take advantage of produce… & meats that are best in winter.  The modified menus will be posted on our website later this week.

For our first working weekend of 2016 — Friday & Saturday night, January 8-9, We’ll be serving Mint-Crusted Lamb Chops with a Light Honey Vinaigrette & Root Veg Mash.

And lastly, make reservations for our special Valentine’s Dinner on Saturday, February 13 or Sunday, February 14 from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.  The menu will be posted in the next couple of weeks — we guarantee that it will be exceptional!

May the road rise to meet you.

Quail

Thank goodness for on-line shopping! Don’t think I’ve set foot in a mall for over three years as a result! (Unfortunately for The Polar Bear, it means that I know my credit card number by heart. The number got stolen once, and he debated reporting it because he thought the thief spent less than I did!)

Thursday, 7 p.m.: World of Pinot Noir Wine Tasting. We’ll be pouring four lovely Pinot Noirs — from France, Italy, Oregon, and California. $20. See if you can identify the region by just sniffing & tasting!

Friday & Saturday we’ll be serving Texas Quail Stuffed with Italian-Herbed Mushrooms over Almond-Cranberry Wild Rice and Creamed Spinach…Finished with Truffle Oil. That’s a tasty December treat!

Martinis & wine $7 Tuesday & Wednesday evening.

Stay safe and get a flu shot!

Red Fish

This week we’ve got lots going on, so I am choosing NOT to put up holiday lighting here at Bizzi’s or at home. (Please don’t judge me — I really do qualify as one of the world’s most clumsy people, and me on a ladder is just plain old scary…not just for me, but for the hapless victims below.)

We’re doing a Craft Beer Tasting on Thursday night (December 10) starting at 7:00 p.m. — 5 beers, $12. This is a first for us — should be loads of fun!

Our feature on Friday night is Red Fish with Roasted Tomato Cream Sauce & Basil Drizzle served with Horseradish Mash & Veg Medley.

We are CLOSED on Saturday, December 12, for a private party — so come in earlier in the week so we don’t miss you!

And lastly, Tuesday/Wednesday wine/martinis for $7.

Salmon With Basmati Rice

NOW we can play holiday music! Quick news:
1) Come listen and tap your feet to Jan Ryberg & Company, playing dueling guitars Wednesday, December 2, from 6-6:30 on into the night. We’ll help you along with wine and martini features for $7 (Tuesday & Wednesday evenings).

2) We have gift cards! Time to come in and get some for your stocking stuffers.

3) We will be offering wintery adult beverages until the new year (and maybe beyond depending on how cold it is) — including Spiked Hot Chocolate, The Polar Bear Coffee, Our Own Eggnog, and our Apple-Cinnamon-Clove Vodka Infusion.

4) This weekend we’re serving Fresh Cut Seared Salmon with Spanish Rice, Vegetables, & Basil Oil.

Back to the grind!

Poisson en Papillote

We won!  We’re excited — Bizzi’s participated in The Taste of Northeast (no, not the Northeast US, but Northeast Tarrant County) last week, and won the top prize for our food.  Needless to say, the plaque is already posted prominently!  Note in the photo The Polar Bear smiling with the plaque.

This weekend (Friday/Saturday evenings) we are featuring Poisson en Papillote.  We’ll serve Cod with Butter, Lemon, and Vegetables in Parchment Paper — very light, very delicious.

Wine Tasting this Thursday — November 19th at 7:00 p.m. with a Flight Around the World.  Four wines, $20.

Get your turkeys thawing by the weekend!

Ribeye

OK, wait for it — my little story will be at the end.

We are participating — with an absolutely fabulous tasting menu (and will be selling jams, jellies, marmalade, candied pecans, and more as well as some beautiful ceramic-ware made by my artistic Mom…think holiday gifts) — in The Taste of Northeast, which will be held on Thursday, November 12 at the Hurst Convention Center from 5:30-8:30 p.m. It you can’t come in to Bizzi’s, you should definitely go to The Taste of Northeast!

This weekend we are featuring Ribeye Steak with Sweet Potato Mash & Seasonal Veg Topped with Red Wine Reduction. Yep — awesome.

So here’s my story. We had our 3rd annual “Fall Night to Remember” on Saturday. Everything’s going well in the kitchen and on the floor. We are nurturing our Baby Portobello Risotto and are ready to plate it — when I see the pan up on the air…end over end…risotto flying everywhere (but mostly on Edgar’s chef coat and shoes). Not our only moment of panic on Saturday, but by far the most interesting! What did we do? Start our Risotto over again. Just another day in paradise.

Have a wonderful week, everyone!

November Dinner

Argh! Don’t torture me with holiday tunes yet — Halloween is just over.

This Saturday, November 7, is our Third Annual “Fall Night to Remember” — the menu is just below on this page as well as on our website (www.bizzis.net). And here are the wines if you choose to pair wines with your dinner: La Rioja Alta, J.L. Chave St. Joseph, Trisaetum Dry Riesling, Avignonesi Vino Nobile, and either Niepoort 10 or Cava with dessert. We’re also happy to recommend a bottle for your table or mix you a signature cocktail. Call for a reservation: 817-281-9500.

Friday night (November 6) we will be featuring Smoked Salmon Tortellini topped with Lemon Buerre Blanc Sauce & Seared Asparagus. Mmmmm.

Bizzi’s will be serving up yumminess at The Taste of Northeast on Thursday, November 12th, too. Lots of food everywhere.

As always, we have martinis and wine for $7 as well as Cheese Plates for $2 off on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights.

Have a wonderful week.

Rouladen, Again And Again

Another week went by and I learned something — doesn’t always happen, but love it when it does! We figured out why our orange marmalade wasn’t setting properly. So then we made about three gallons of it to take advantage of our new knowledge. Perfect for gifts or slathered on toast at home!

November 7th dinner — still seats available with reservations starting at 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Check out our website for full details, and we will post our wines on Facebook and our web page later in the week.

This weekend we’re featuring our last week of German fare: Rouladen with Red Cabbage & Spaetzle (lovely in this cool weather). We’ll also have a special Hallowe’en dessert to celebrate the season.

$2 off cheese plates and $7 wines/martinis on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday evenings.
