Salmon With Basmati Rice

NOW we can play holiday music! Quick news:
1) Come listen and tap your feet to Jan Ryberg & Company, playing dueling guitars Wednesday, December 2, from 6-6:30 on into the night. We’ll help you along with wine and martini features for $7 (Tuesday & Wednesday evenings).

2) We have gift cards! Time to come in and get some for your stocking stuffers.

3) We will be offering wintery adult beverages until the new year (and maybe beyond depending on how cold it is) — including Spiked Hot Chocolate, The Polar Bear Coffee, Our Own Eggnog, and our Apple-Cinnamon-Clove Vodka Infusion.

4) This weekend we’re serving Fresh Cut Seared Salmon with Spanish Rice, Vegetables, & Basil Oil.

Back to the grind!

Poisson en Papillote

We won!  We’re excited — Bizzi’s participated in The Taste of Northeast (no, not the Northeast US, but Northeast Tarrant County) last week, and won the top prize for our food.  Needless to say, the plaque is already posted prominently!  Note in the photo The Polar Bear smiling with the plaque.

This weekend (Friday/Saturday evenings) we are featuring Poisson en Papillote.  We’ll serve Cod with Butter, Lemon, and Vegetables in Parchment Paper — very light, very delicious.

Wine Tasting this Thursday — November 19th at 7:00 p.m. with a Flight Around the World.  Four wines, $20.

Get your turkeys thawing by the weekend!

Ribeye

OK, wait for it — my little story will be at the end.

We are participating — with an absolutely fabulous tasting menu (and will be selling jams, jellies, marmalade, candied pecans, and more as well as some beautiful ceramic-ware made by my artistic Mom…think holiday gifts) — in The Taste of Northeast, which will be held on Thursday, November 12 at the Hurst Convention Center from 5:30-8:30 p.m. It you can’t come in to Bizzi’s, you should definitely go to The Taste of Northeast!

This weekend we are featuring Ribeye Steak with Sweet Potato Mash & Seasonal Veg Topped with Red Wine Reduction. Yep — awesome.

So here’s my story. We had our 3rd annual “Fall Night to Remember” on Saturday. Everything’s going well in the kitchen and on the floor. We are nurturing our Baby Portobello Risotto and are ready to plate it — when I see the pan up on the air…end over end…risotto flying everywhere (but mostly on Edgar’s chef coat and shoes). Not our only moment of panic on Saturday, but by far the most interesting! What did we do? Start our Risotto over again. Just another day in paradise.

Have a wonderful week, everyone!

November Dinner

Argh! Don’t torture me with holiday tunes yet — Halloween is just over.

This Saturday, November 7, is our Third Annual “Fall Night to Remember” — the menu is just below on this page as well as on our website (www.bizzis.net). And here are the wines if you choose to pair wines with your dinner: La Rioja Alta, J.L. Chave St. Joseph, Trisaetum Dry Riesling, Avignonesi Vino Nobile, and either Niepoort 10 or Cava with dessert. We’re also happy to recommend a bottle for your table or mix you a signature cocktail. Call for a reservation: 817-281-9500.

Friday night (November 6) we will be featuring Smoked Salmon Tortellini topped with Lemon Buerre Blanc Sauce & Seared Asparagus. Mmmmm.

Bizzi’s will be serving up yumminess at The Taste of Northeast on Thursday, November 12th, too. Lots of food everywhere.

As always, we have martinis and wine for $7 as well as Cheese Plates for $2 off on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights.

Have a wonderful week.

Rouladen, Again And Again

Another week went by and I learned something — doesn’t always happen, but love it when it does! We figured out why our orange marmalade wasn’t setting properly. So then we made about three gallons of it to take advantage of our new knowledge. Perfect for gifts or slathered on toast at home!

November 7th dinner — still seats available with reservations starting at 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Check out our website for full details, and we will post our wines on Facebook and our web page later in the week.

This weekend we’re featuring our last week of German fare: Rouladen with Red Cabbage & Spaetzle (lovely in this cool weather). We’ll also have a special Hallowe’en dessert to celebrate the season.

$2 off cheese plates and $7 wines/martinis on Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday evenings.

Schnitzel

We’re going to have a great week — at least better than yesterday, when I ran over yet another pair of glasses (don’t ask…it’s a lousy habit).

We’re still doing Jager-Schnitzel with Home Fries & Seasonal Veg this week — and will finish out Oktoberfest foods with a reprise of our Rouladen with Red Cabbage & Spaetzle next week. Get your German on while you can! New flatbreads as well!

Trisaetum Wine tasting Thursday, October 22 — starts at 7 p.m. — reserve a spot (or just come by). Very highly rated wines from Willamette Valley in Oregon.

Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday evenings after 5, we are pouring nice wines (or shaking you a martini) for $7, and also are serving Cheese Plates at $2 off!

And lastly, our Fall Night to Remember Prix Fixe Dinner is Saturday, November 7th — five courses, $60 per person.

Saw this great bumper sticker today: “I Saw That”…Karma.

Schnitzel

Still Oktobering!

Our Sous Chef, Edgar, says, “Oh My Ninja!” when he’s surprised. Never fails to crack me up.

This weekend, as Oktoberfest continues here at Bizzi’s, we’re serving The Polar Bear’s (yes, that’s my husband, although he doesn’t know it’s his nickname) favorite feature: Jagerschnitzel with Home Fries & Seasonal Veg. He once ate eight schnitzels at one sitting and then took four more home and ate them later in the evening (ah, the days when we could eat unlimited amounts of food…). Already tried it today — delish. We ran out of Rouladen last week, so we’ll do a reprise of that before the end of the month.

Cheese plates are discounted $2 on Tuesdays through Thursdays, and we have nice red/white wine and martinis then as well for $7.

Wine tasting next week! Thursday, October 22, starting at 7 p.m. — Trisaetum Wines; $20 per person. This is outstanding wine — just look them up!

I’m also attaching a menu that’s printable on 8-1/2 x 11 paper for our 3rd annual Fall Night to Remember which will be held on Saturday, November 7th; reservations only; five courses with optional wine pairing. Call us to reserve your table (817-281-9500). Added bonus — Jan Ryberg will be playing his outstanding & original background guitar music for us that evening.

Harvest Blessing to you all!

It’s All About the People! So true in all walks of life, right? Firstly, you all … then, our employees — peeps make the world go round!

Anyway, Heather (our illustrious chef) is German, and either looks forward to (because it’s fun) or dreads (because it’s a lot of work) October. We’ll be featuring delicious Oktoberfest fare all month! This weekend it’s Rouladen (Tender Braised Flank Steak Wrapped Around Bacon, Onions, Pickles, and Mustard Topped with Gravy), Red Cabbage, and Spaetzle. Pair that with a glass of Reisling for authentic German fare.

Trisaetum Wine Tasting here on Thursday, October 22 — $20 for four wines (plus a bonus…); served with a light snack plate.

November 7 – Our Fall Night to Remember. Make your reservations! $60 per person — five courses; menu is posted on our website at www.bizzis.net. Wine pairing for those who would like one! And let us know if you have special dietary restrictions — we can feed you something that suits with a little advance notice.

Enjoying this weather!

Pork And Grits

Alas. My kids and employees have given me the verdict: I am way behind on technology. What! No Twitter account…no Snapchat…no Instagram. Guilty as charged. So sue me.

In any case, Wednesday night (September 23) Jan Ryberg & Company making beautiful music on their dueling classical guitars — starting at 6:00 p.m.

Tuesday & Wednesday, enjoy any well martini or a glass of white or red wine for $7. Mmmm — believe I’ll have a Rosemary Gimlet!

Feature this weekend: Pork Tenderloin with Red Wine Barbecue Sauce served with Smoked Gouda Grits and Seasonal Veg.

And lastly, our November dinner is set — Saturday, November 7th with reservations available from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. $60 per person. The menu will be posted on our website this week. If you have special dietary needs, call us!

Over and out.
